About Greg

Greg West is a Cumberland County native who believes deeply in giving back to the community that shaped him. Born at Cape Fear Valley and raised in Fayetteville, Greg was educated in Cumberland County Schools. He and Kristie chose to raise their family here because they believe in this community and its future.

Public service and education run in Greg’s family. He is the son of a longtime civil servant and a career public school teacher, is married to a teacher, and has raised three children who attended our public schools. For more than two decades, Greg has served the citizens and students of Cumberland County through his work on the Cumberland County Board of Education, where he has focused on accountability, student success, and strong community partnerships.

Professionally, Greg brings real-world experience to public service. He is a licensed real estate broker and general contractor, and a co-owner of a locally based small business, RAYWEST DESIGNBUILD. He knows Cumberland County like the back of his hand. His work has given him a practical understanding of infrastructure, economic growth, and the importance of smart, fiscally responsible planning.

Greg has also served Cumberland County through numerous civic, business, and nonprofit organizations, supporting education, workforce development, military families, and economic growth. Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or the community, his focus has always been on building solutions that last.

Greg West is running for Cumberland County Commissioner (At-Large) because he believes our best days are ahead. He is committed to building what matters—strong schools, reliable infrastructure, a prepared workforce, and responsible government—so Cumberland County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
